About
The triumph of scientific genius resembles the triumph of true art as it invigorates and changes our life. It is when such achievements commence their service to people, changing their lives for the better, even if humans are not completely aware of this, that a new round of development begins not only for human beings, but also for a specific industry, a whole country, and, perhaps, for the entire world.

A particularly striking example of such scientific genius is the Gas Centrifuge Complex of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, whose continuous operation has allowed Russia to maintain its global leadership in the uranium enrichment technology for over 70 years. Just like the academic art of our country, unique gas centrifuges of the domestic nuclear industry evoke admiration and pride and rank among outstanding achievements of Russian science.

A multimedia performance called A Whirlwind of Emotions has been prepared for each day of the AtomExpo2024, and each of the shows consists of three parts.
«Whirlwind»

MARCH 25

The art of classical ballet, with its polished movements, smooth lines, beauty of a dance pattern, and tremendous amount of preparatory work, reflects, in the best possible way, the entirety of research and technological work done by scientists, designers, and engineers to construct such an essentially exclusive solution as the Gas Centrifuge. And the development and implementation of the most audacious ideas driven by an original invention is reminiscent of the development of the Russian school of music. This is why three parts of the Whirlwind performance will feature a retrospective of music from classical to contemporary composers.
01
Genesis
The path from the inception of the idea of the isotopes existence to the first examples of implementation of the intended processes is like a miracle. P.I. Tchaikovsky’s magical and recognisable music from The Nutcracker ballet could not be more relevant for revealing this exciting process. A classical dance of Maria Mishina, a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, conveying the entire range of the creators’ emotions, is associated with the origin history of a unique product.
02
Possession
The technological progress development has influenced the development of the art of music as well, and Time, Forward! by Georgy Sviridov manifests the strength and energy with which all technologies that have been created commence to serve humankind and to develop the country’s technological strength. And two soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, Maria Mishina and Ksenia Zhiganshina, appearing on stage and their dance interaction vividly demonstrate the enhancement of fundamental principles and expansion of opportunities.
03
Delight
Moving from classical basics, by means of breakthroughs and progress, to stability and a confident vision for the future is similar to the delight and gratitude of a contemporary who has a rich history, which becomes their present and offers new opportunities. The modern composer Elmir Nizamov’s music A Man with a Film Camera provides an incredibly realistic reflection of the present day. And three soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, Maria Mishina, Ksenia Zhiganshina, and Lina Sheveleva, embody stable development with their dance and open new horizons for the future, remaining perfectly synchronised at the right time, like centrifuge complexes with their tireless synchronous rotation.
«Emotions»
MARCH 26
On one occasion, the brilliant pianist Denis Matsuev, an Honoured Artist of Russia, visited the Gas Centrifuge Workshop and said a catching phrase: ‘Let’s hit the centrifuge with a fugue.’ This association of centrifuge cascades with an instrument for performing a complicated piece of music has been an inspiration for several years. And it was this phrase of the world-famous pianist that has lent wings to creative thought and instilled the courage to dream of going into this direction. This day, fugues on themes by great Russian composers will be performed, and the Fugue for a Centrifuge written specially for this day will be played by Ekaterina Dolyan, a winner of international competitions and excellent pianist.
01
Retrospective
Following the fugue canons, great and familiar themes from Glinka to Tchaikovsky run after each other, intertwine and transform, sound in counterpoint, allowing the audience to plunge into those epochs replete with talents and to get into their colourful spirit. The multimedia component of the performance will make the spectators feel immersed into the construction process of Centrifuges and their preparation for technological service for the good of the country.
02
Polyphonic allusion
This is a collage of themes by Russian composers of the 20th century, from Tchaikovsky, who is the diptych’s connecting link, to Stravinsky, reflecting the technological breakthrough of the 20th century and its significance for the development of advanced technologies. Energy and movement as well as the beauty of musical and scientific aspirations are combined in an opus arranged for this performance.
03
Fugue for a Centrifuge
Specially for this day, the contemporary composer Elmir Nizamov, an Honoured Arts Worker of the Republic of Tatarstan and laureate of the Award of the President of the Russian Federation for Young Cultural Workers, has composed the Fugue for a Centrifuge. Thus, what Denis Matsuev once said will be brought to life, and the very art of technologies that has been making Russia the world leader in uranium enrichment for 70 years will find its musical form.
